The sun and the sea have shared a long distance relationship for ages. His starlight shines through space sending her a message of love and warmth. Her waves reach out to feel the heat being sent to her. Creatures stir beneath her surface and inside she comes to life. He burns brighter as she spins taking him all in and allowing him to wash over her shores. One day he will have to reach out and he knows that he will consume her. Being so far away is something that even the sun cannot stand and when he expands to be near her he will only destroy everything that he loves.

They walked the streets late after the midnight hour prowling for their next prey. They were young and mean and packed into tight t-shirts and jeans. Their leather boot heels clicked as they walked with arms swinging wildly. Each of them gritted their teeth and hoped that they would find work with each passing car. Just one trick to rob or suck off and the two boys would finally get their hit. In a handful of hours they would be waking to the blazing sun and once their blurry eyes cleared and a shower started to run over them they would think about the next high and a chance to be a creature pleaser.

Gracie who I first wrote about after discovering him through his EP release on Absent Fever recently tipped me off to his first preview single from his upcoming debut full length album Bleeder. The single is titled Creature Pleaser and it is a large and in charge slice of electronic pop. It moves and sways, breaks down pounding, and rises from the dead with repeat hard hitting snares that push through it’s second half. His music always seems to find it’s ground no matter how he chooses to twist and turn things and the album should have plenty of surprises for your listening ears when it releases.

The wave is headed this way. We have heard on the news that it is traveling around the entire globe with no look of stopping. A large crowd in the thousands has started to gather and fill the beach with their chairs and coolers. Their hands reach into their pockets and they call everyone they know that couldn’t be here. Film crews roll from both the ground and the sky in loud whirring copters that pass overhead to scan the crowd. It is moving at seven hundred and sixty eight miles per hour over the ocean and any moment the sound will overwhelm us all.

Just had a chance to sit and give a listen to the latest release on Shit Music For Shit People records. It was a two track split 7” coming from Two Bit Dezperados and Beat Mark and I chose to post the flip as my preview to what you will get from this release. A classic sounding guitar intro drives right into an upbeat summer fun filled explosion of indie pop. Male and female shared vocals play off of each other throughout with the female taking the wheel during the breakdown. The A-side is also a guitar laced rock track that ends in a lengthy instrumental groove and you can stream the release at the SMFSP SoundCloud. It is officially out on August 3rd and will be a 300 copy limited release so cop them quick.

I move swiftly and faceless through the large writhing crowd. My hood is pulled up over my head and face and I excuse my way toward the man I have been following for weeks. This is going to be my one chance to get near him without any of his men around to protect him. I reach my hand into my pocket where it slides smoothly into the glove I have stashed away there. My knife is taken out in split second as I press myself into the mans back. I leave the knife with the man and walk into the crowd to become an invisible killer hidden in plain sight.

It seems like I have just posted the original version of Erika Spring’s Hidden and now I get another chance to post the same song with a twist. Jensen Sportag takes the original and intros with a light airy sound. From there the song is all shimmer and shine with throbbing disco rhythms pulsing underneath their use of the vocal bits and pieces. It seems as if there will be no way to make our way out. It has been three grueling days in the dark and the heat while we try to dig. We were there in the underneath when Bobby sent the call through his radio and seconds later we heard the blast go off from above us. All I am able to think about is seeing her face and how stupid I was to leave my lunch pail back in our break room. Her homemade spaghetti was still safely in a plastic container and I could taste it on my lips. However for now all we could do is start to sit and wait as our escape has ended with no progress.

You may remember Joseph Zucco from his previous posts here as Teenage Reverb. Well he is both back to making music and he is making it under the new name of J£ZUS MILLION. His first preview of his latest EP Eat Dat has just landed on his SoundCloud and is called No Progress. It is a slow building slice of R&B icon laced four on the flour electronic groove. Synths and percussion turn the tide rising and stabbing throughout the tracks second half. Give this preview single a turn then look out for his EP release soon.

I never second guess my heart when it tells me to go for it. There can be no turning back is not ever going to be enough to keep me from stepping of that ledge and into the fire. I simply stand fast and prepare myself. It is unknown if there will be any time to plan or if I will have even a moment to do so. I just have to grab whatever I can sitting near me that may be of use and rush to meet whatever the situation is head on. I have to follow my heart and walk out onto the edge. I will always have to dive into it.

Mister Lies is no new name to GPBP and there is good reason after a string of always pleasant sounds that follow after hitting play on any of the tracks bearing the name. Luckily for us this new single Dive (Into It) also comes packed as a part of the new SVENGALI Vol 2. compilation which is filled to brim with fresh songs from Mister Lies, Different Sleep, Soleman, Maurice, and Svengali. Saying this new song is laid back is an understatement. This is the sound of sitting in a hammock by a beach while someone waits on your every want and need while watching a perfect sunset laid back. I go into a mild frenzy when I happen to catch that look in your eyes. It draws me in and sends my head into a multitude of fantasy scenarios. I always know that look is going to mean a night out where we will laugh and eat and hold hands over tables at whatever restaurant we finally decide on. We might sit in a dark movie allowing our legs to press together while we share quick glances in the flashes of light. I can only wonder how you will be surprising me once we spin the lock in our door. All I know is that when I see that romantic gaze my night will be special.

After one of the more impressive strings of singles to be released this year as well as the inclusion of Aliens on the Dopewave Is Real compilation Taquwami has laid this new card on the table. Romantic Gaze is the first full length taste of his soon to be released Blurrywonder EP on Void Youth. It rattles and hums with Hip-Hop influenced drums, Huge almost Trance like synth rises, and a Pop similar vocal that is warped and toyed with throughout. Hints of so many things lay under the instant surface of this track it really leaves me no way to pigeon hole it into some sort of genre. All I can say is that I’m looking forward to the release and hearing the rest of the latest EP as soon as possible.

They wind through the earth far and wide splitting the country apart. Their rushing tide filled waters move freight from the north to the south on the Mississippi spilling out into the gulf. Fish move effortlessly beneath the rolling ripples looking for small prey and each other to feast upon. The insects make their various noises spreading waves of buzz and hum. The sun reflects off of the water as I stare through to the bottom of this rolling muddy river. I think of how the rivers divide and how they bring us all together.

Love to see this combination of one of GPBP’s old favorites Papercutz being given a makeover from one of my current favorites Indian Wells. They take the new single Rivers in a different direction from the previous remixers Synkro, Nowa Huta and Stalker. Light snaps and flickers inro the remix and give way to a slim toned down rhythm track. The beats move and tap with lively motion like the inner workings of a clock creating the devices tick. On your side the lights were still burning bright and you sat comfortably watching your television. On my side the winds came whipping through the night tumbling trees into power lines and cutting our power out. The rain fell hard sounding like machine gun fire as it ricocheted against windows and cars. The lights all fell into the black at once surrounding us in darkness. The next day the heat continued to grow punishing those of us trapped inside. I picked up my things and started to make my way to your side.

Slow Magic debuted this new single coming from a new full length that is a work in progress. If this beat filled masterpiece is any indication we are in for one hell of an addictive ear filling ride soon. Deep bass thump underneath a sample that gets a tad of drag in just the right places against a machine gun snare compose a solid meaty beat experience. Most of the time I can’t help but to feel small and frail as if the world opened up it’s mouth and chewed then spat me out. I work myself into a coma and seem to have very little to show for the hours that I put in. When those aches and pains seem to be too much and I feel my head pounding and my muscles attempt to tear apart I think of having you waiting at home. In those moments I feel invincible and can’t wait to be there with you near me.

Tours can simply do no wrong this year with single after single of stunning summer vibes being released one after the other. When it comes to a laid back relaxing electronic sound he has shined with Grand Lux. Then he teamed up with Steffaloo for the low rumble of Low Life. Now we have this latest beat filled treat called Near Me to bob our heads to as well. Just it give it twenty seconds and you are in for a ride with bubbling drums and haunted samples. I do this labor for what seems like a peasants wage slowly saving pennies so that I can purchase whatever new distraction might hold me over. My bills are paid and the car is full of gas so those pennies can be spent on taking away the stresses of my daily grind. I do all of this every day knowing that I will one day work enough to try to take one large chunk out of my savings to purchase a dream or to lead me on a path so that one day I may not have to work so hard to do so. At the end of the day I am proud of the work and the toil that I go through so that I can earn the sweet from the sour.

This little duo out of Boston has impressed me and managed to drill their little song into my brain all week with this single sweet n sour. The pair manage to do a little genre blending and come at you with a bubbly mixture of relaxed vocals that echo rap without being street. Beats pound in the background but stay there only to drive the hypnotic melody until you have no choice but to submit. When everything seems to be breaking apart into a million shards of insanity I turn to you. The spiral spins and the wheel’s turn sends everything careening out of control. I start to crumble under the weight of my own emotions and think that I can’t stand this torment for another second. My fear and my doubts take over and I feel like in a moment I will tear myself to pieces just to escape the things that I am afraid to face. It is in these moments that you are always there to tell me just what I have to offer and you are there to let me know that you will always be my center.

San Diego’s Different Sleep is an artist I have recently started to follow through his SoundCloud but I have known about his sounds for some time. His release with Absent Fever as a collaborative EP with Mister Lies put him on my radar and I have started to keep up with his releases ever since. His latest single Be My Center celebrates his reaching 1000 followers and that number is steadily rising. With moving whirls and hums the single quickly edges it’s way into your subconscious and imbeds itself there. At only age 19 I think this will be an artist to watch closely in the near future and I think after one play here and a dig through his previous SoundCloud releases you will too.

In the moonlight I’ll walk smoking a cigarette with a beer in my hand. I’ll drop it down to my side when the police roll by. It isn’t like they would bother with a skinny white boy like me anyway. The lightning bugs will do their dance for me. They will swirl in the darkness and light my path as I make my way to the corner store looking to push my drunk further. The heat hasn’t subsided and I’m starting to sweat just before I reach the door. I grab a six pack and hand the woman my driver’s license which she swipes before setting me free back into the night.

Blithe Field has always had an interesting way with sounds such as the track that served as my introduction to his sample filled playground Crushing. Sam Ray under his Ricky Eat Acid moniker has the same type of personality that is willing to toy with various elements in the spectrum of audio. Combined the two have had a chance to come together with this remix of Blithe Field’s In The Moonlight. We are kissing in the backseat of her father’s car and I’m still surprised that I am even here. I’m still missing the tooth that he took from me yesterday when he found me smoking pot behind the 7-11 downtown. A few knocks on the head and I was sent on my way being deemed not worthy of the paperwork. I met her later that evening and being new in town she couldn’t resist my now closed mouth smile. A few hours and beers later and we are in the place I am bound to wake up in on another night of whiskey and discontent. It seems like the perfect revenge to be making out with the daughter of a cop.

We have a rare and talented musician in the like’s of Coma Cinema’s Mat Cothran and I hope he gets his due before we all have to look back and wonder why he didn’t. His latest release is with his side project Elvis Depressedly called Mickey’s Dead and it shows a hardened honesty that few artists are willing to touch. Like a street side poet he allows us into his world and paints a picture much like that of an old run down country artist. Pain and regret make good bed partners through the albums ten tracks and for now you can join him on this voyage in being human for free through his own Bandcamp which I suggest you tough it out and do now.

The island we thought would stand the test of time is on the news today. The pale faced anchor is cutting to a tape of it splitting in two. As it shows the huge rocks starting to tumble into the ocean he says we should all begin to move inland. My group of friends however decide not to take his advice. We all load up and make our way to the abandoned shore and begin to light a large bonfire in expectation. In a few days we will all be drunk and dancing as we wait for that massive wave to wash us over and sweep us all away.

I have followed San Jose artist Justin Morales for some time and am pleased to see the developments and growth his music has shown. In just a couple of years he has pushed his sound and continues to create at steady pace. His latest album will be set to be released in August and this is the first preview. Sweep Away is a calming mixture of both electric and contemporary instruments that simmers slowly. His voice mixes with the light elements until the kick comes in showcasing his other electronic side.
